  1. What is PostageApp?
    PostageApp is a service that makes it easy to send and manage outbound emails from applications.

  2. What type of emails should I use PostageApp to send out?
    Every application needs a bare minimum number of emails required to operate right out of the gate, but almost any transactional or notification-type email that your application sends out, as well as bulk email updates and newsletters would be great fits for usage with PostageApp.

  3. How do I get started with using PostageApp?

  1. What are archived messages?
    Archived messages is the functionality in PostageApp that saves the messages most recently sent from your application - you can view them by clicking into the PostageApp project of your choice, in your PostageApp dashboard.

  2. What is the 'message size limit'?
    The message size limit refers to the maximum size of a single API call that applications can make. For most transactional and notification emails, this is a non-issue. However, for bulk emails, the number of recipients per API call should be split up so you do not run into the message size limit.

  3. Will there be any problems if I upgrade my PostageApp plan in the middle of the billing cycle?
    No! Absolutely not. Your plan will change automatically and you will receive no disruption in your service.

  4. What happens if I go over my monthly sending limit?
    In the event that you go over your monthly sending limit with your PostageApp account, your service will continue uninterrupted. However, every email sent over the monthly sending limit will come at a cost of $0.001 per email, or $1 per 1,000 emails. Definitely monitor your usage, and upgrade as necessary!

  1. What are 'error notifications'?
    In your PostageApp project's settings, you can turn on error notifications for a certain number of failed messages or not have them on at all. These are so that you can be alerted should that certain number of failed messages occurs consecutively, an early notification should a problem be present with the SMTP server associated with your account.


  1. How can we integrate PostageApp with Devise?
    You have to copy the mailers from the Devise code into your app as to override their mailers, and change the header to this:
    class DeviseMailer < PostageApp::Mailer
