Environments

It would be great if we could filter messages by environments (development, staging) in the Project Dashboard. As a startup Rails developer this feature could help us to better integrate our startup workflow with PostageApp, letting developers only focus on dev messages.

    Ben,

    This is actually on our list of features to add to PostageApp! We have heard this from a few of our clients and we are looking to implement something similar in the future. At this point, our efforts are on getting the revamped sending engine and delivery solution out the door, and then after that we're going to look at additional features.

    Thanks for your suggestion!

    Great!

    As a temporarly workaround I add the environment to all my mailer subjects to identify the messages easily, via Rails.env.

    Great temporary solution, we're considering adding "tags" to messages so that it becomes much easier for developers such as yourself to filter their messages and view by segment.

    Glad to hear there's some demand for it!

    I create separate postageapp projects for each environment. This also allows me to un-assign an email server from my Dev and Test projects so that no dev or test emails are actually delivered.

    Kevin,

    That works great too! Thanks for sharing your solution!

    In addition, you can use recipient_override to send those dev emails to yourself, all you have to do is add this to your API call:

    "recipient_override" : "***@example.com"

    That way, you can also see the results of the email in your inbox, should you be doing any testing for design.
