Message size limit includes recipients?

I found out I exceeded my message size limit for a particular message, not because of the message itself, but because there were too many recipients. Is it correct that the recipients list has also an impact on the message size?

It seems a bit strange that I have to send my message in batches of 500 for this reason.

    Hi Michiel,

Message size limit is actually the size of the API call. That includes recipients / variables / actual html and text content. Limits are 10K for free plan, and then 50K / 250K / 500K / 1M depending on your plan. From our testing it seemed like a good distribution. But we'll see if bumping that limit up makes sense.

    Hi Oleg,

    Thanks for your insights.

From my experience with the pigeon plan (50K), it seemed like 500 recipients were fine, but 1000+ gave an error. The message itself was just a very simple html message.

I'm not sending that often, so switching to a higher plan only for this reason doesn't seem appropriate. I would be happy if the limits would be increased.
